I have, literally, been obsessing this week over my 'niche' in this whole blogging atmosphere. I've actually Googled: 'mommy blogs', 'fashion blogs', 'craft blogs', 'vintage blogs', and (my fave so far) 'tattooed mom blogs'. I'm looking for the others out there that are like me.
Well, screw it. I have realized that I don't fit into any particular category. I'm a Jack-of-all-Trades, master of none type girl. I have 10 different personalities that showcase themselves at multiple times a day or sometimes not at all. I've always considered it an identity 'fail'. I considered just giving in and giving up... then I found this post: "Bloggers, stop being MEAN" by Erica {Young & Fabulous} and ran across a few others out there like me who were ready to call it quits bc they didn't necessarily fit into a category either and felt threatened by their lack of expertise. Then I talked to my therapist, Linda. Turns out, I'm a lot like her... she never really fit into a 'category' either and quite frankly, she's friggin awesome. She encouraged me to keep going and not focus so hard on finding people like me but rather allowing them to find me. I know you're out there, Ladies!
I promise to be honest to myself and to you and showcase my 'Jack-of-all-Trades' skills and my completely contradicting personality on this blog. I am NOT going to try to fit into a category but rather JOIN those of you out there that are extraordinarily awesome at one particular thing: being your self. I am a unique blogger.
If you're like me and want to be friends, I would totally LOVE to support you and would def love your support too! Follow me on Facebook (link to the left <----) and on here (link to the top right ---->) and I'll get back at you! Also, I'm looking for people to trade buttons with! I just learned how to make them and if you would like me to make one for you, I would love to!
Keep it real, Ladies.
As long as you are yourself and show your personality, i don't see why you need to have a particular blog type. I'm with ya...I'm not very crafty, fashionable, or into cooking. I do a little of each and I don't see why I have to make my blog one specific topic.
ReplyDeleteThank you, for being yourself. That is what we really want to see!

I think this is a wonderful pledge. You don't have to fit a niche, just be yourself. :)

I figured I'd comment back on your blog to make sure you saw it :]
ReplyDeleteDefinitely let me know more about the link up you are thinking about! I'm definitely interested & following your blog now!
I don't feel like I fit into a niche either. Not to worry. We love your blog and that's all that matters! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. I just started my blog last week. I had wanted one for a long time but was paralyzed by the fear of not knowing my niche or "picking" the wrong one. I pretty much said what you said, screw it. I am going to be me and write what is in my heart. If you come from a place like that, it can't be wrong and your are right... someone will find you! I am a follower now! Your site looks great.
ReplyDeleteps. I am from North Ga too.
Ohhhh, I'd love to have a button made for me! And I'd love to put your badge on mine. Seriously, I love that I found your blog (or should I say that you found my blog, and I came over to see what you were all about). After reading a bit more I see that you live in Georgia. I lived there for six months in another life. Long story short: I am from Minnesota, met a really nice guy through blogging, we met in real life, and I moved to Georgia for him. Ahhhh! Who does that? Me I guess. But anywhoodle, that didn't work out so well (hence me living there for only six months), and I am now back in Minnesota, married to the man I never knew I deserved (but I do, I really do), and blogging again. I need to get off the couch and do some things tonight, but I am going to come back soon and read more of your fabbo blog.
ReplyDeleteHi!! I am your newest follower & I just want to express my complete adoration for people who dare to be a little weird & own that shit. awesome. I want to trade buttons! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your pledge! I'm a "unique blogger," as well, not fitting into anyone category. I blog because I love to write, because I believe in expression, and because I'm afraid if I don't record my adventures, well, whose going too?
ReplyDeletePS You and your beautiful family always make me smile :)
